It’s been almost one and a half years of my journey with adidas and I have attended quite a few shoe launch events. What amazes is that every time they come up with an innovative shoe, they come up with an even more innovative way of launching it. What I find even better is their effort in the last one year to bring strong women together and letting them bond over sports and running which I love. I find it heartening as well as encouraging that a brand as large as adidas genuinely tries to bring women to the forefront. For the launch of adidas Ultra BOOST X, they brought together 30 women from from different spheres of life. And I was honored to be a part of that lot. But for me the biggest highlight was meeting the very unassuming Saachi Soni who has climbed Mount Everest, Mount Elbrus and Mount McKinley! Among others were body builders, athletes, fitness instructors and actress Saiyami kher.
The trip began, when we left for Alibaug from Gateway of India in speed boats for an experience like no other. Alibaug is a beautiful little green town with hillocks and beaches. We had the opportunity of interacting with each other before and I heard many inspirational stories and picked up some great life lessons as well.
We headed to try out the shoes on a steep 4km trail one way. While some of us were busy getting to the top of the trail faster than others, some were soaking in the beautiful sunset on the way. We took a different route to come down and that’s where the real test of the new shoes started as this trail was relentless, slippery and rocky and narrow. Despite Ultra BOOST X not being a trail shoe, it offered enough stability. What’s surprising was that we broke in to the shoe with an 8km trail and didn’t feel a thing. The shoe has a snug socks like fit so I didn’t even feel the need to wear socks! The shoe turned out to be extremely comfortable and has enough space in front for wider feet as well.
After the trail, we attended the sundowner and each one of us made a new fitness resolution for the year. Next morning, we were all up and about early to try the shoe on the beach. It was a short, fun relay run and lots and lots of pictures and getting to know each other a little more before saying our goodbyes.
While I love my pair of Ultra BOOST X for the comfort they offer, I love the way adidas is in their own way encouraging women to take charge of their health.
